Just been out to move the turbo and noticed that my clocks display has burst internally, you can still see the top but the bottom now has a semi-circle blob on it. It was ok on tuesday,so any idea's whats caused it ??

Take the one from the S2 [;)]

Seems to be a common failure, the clock. Possibly a temperature fracture?

I might not bother changing the clock as an have an analogue one off a 968 in the cubby hole which dont seem to go wrong. I thought it was too good to be true buying a 944 witha working clock !!!

It's a common failure [:(]

You can still get them from an OPC but they are prett expensive for what they are. S/H ones are like rocking horse pooh and the parts places seem to have a waiting list. They occasionally appear on EBAY but because of demand do not often sell cheaply

The last one i saw on ebay went for about £80 which i wouldnt pay for a clock. Im now thinking of fitting the 968 clock in the centre console and putting a boost guage where the digi clock was.

Think I paid about £50 for my second hand replacement clock from Porsheapart couple of years ago. Colchester OPC quoted me about £300 for a new one !!!!!![8|]

I took the one from my Lux and fitted it to the Turbo last weekend! Discovered some ropey wiring behind the clock bulb in the Lux, so fixed all that up whilst it was in pieces "¦

Thats a common failure alrite. Same happened me. The liquid seems to "run" out of the display. A cnut to get second hand. Got one off Douglas Valley years ago. I think its to do with a sudden temperature change. I was at a show in Antrim. It was cold in the morning but a scortcher of an afternoon. It was fine on the way up but it was like that on the way home..![]

The same thing has happened to the clock on my S2.

When I find the time, I'll be investigating some other solutions - new screen or replacement unit from something else.

I'll do a write-up when I have something to say ...

Oli.

The temperature change idea sound like a possibility as it was really cold and stormy on the monday / tuesday but on wednesday it was really hot which is when i noticed it had burst !!

Almost ironically they replaced the clock with a *digital* temp gauge when the 968 came out ...

I really must remove mine and flog it, as I never use the thing, the battery is so often disconnected I never bother resetting it (I use sat nav or mobile to get the time). If I can blank the hole off neatly then mine may be available in a few weeks.

A piece of black electrical tape covers it perfectly.

Mine leaked and went funny whilst it had its extended stay at the hot and balmy seaside [:D]
