Dash trim strip replacement (oval dash cars)

Tizzy

New member
Hi - being lazy again - I did a search and couldn’t obviously find anything - am about to replace the trim strip that has the clock etc in (have a new clock that works now ??) as the tab that goes under the heater controls panel was always broken. I’m ok with taking the long strip off (did it to replace the clock and the glovebox lock) but any advice on safe removal of the heater control panel so I can get at the tabs for the clock-strip would be much appreciated. I don’t want to fix one bit and break another at the same time! Cheers!

It’s actually pretty straightforward and just clips in place - so use a plastic pry tool on either side and gently remove an end, then work your way along popping off each clip.

Be careful putting the heater unit back as it can be a tight fit with the wires behind and if you over tighten the 2 screws either side that hold the dash trims in then the plastic will crack and break, I’ve replaced mine with a 3D printed part I bought online as a result of this.

Thanks! So if I’m understanding right then there are no screws on the heater panel, it‘s just clipped in?

Cheers
