Guys,
Got a warning up to say check rear lamp function; this I did and noted the stop lamp/tail lamp had gone. This was duly replaced & checked for operation - all OK.However, still get the warning message coming up and now a red exclamation mark - Central warning system. All electrical functions work OK and after reading the book of words it says I can cancel this by pushing the small left hand column lever forward. done this but still get the warning message/exclamation mark - any thoughts[8|][&o]
Thanks

Hi Edward, you might have to pop along to a OPC and have the fault cleared from the system replacing the stop lamp will sort the fault physically but the fault code will still remain in the system until it is cleared electronically. I take it you replaced it yourself ? or had a local garage to do it.

It's getting a bit crazy when you have to go to an OPC if a bulb blows (and you have replaced it yourself!)
Technology gone too far? [&:]

Generally the warning message should cancel after replacement of the bulb.

However, I too have found this not always to be the case and it is very frustrating. It would appear that the system is too sensitive. I swapped a bulb for a new one only to have the warning to come on again a day later. The bulb was neither blown on indeed loose. I cleared out the warning and since then it has not reoccurred.

Thanks chaps for your help.
Nick- USA: you said you cleared out the warning - how did you do that?
Cheers
Edward

I have a PIWIS, same computer that the dealer uses.

before you do anything, change the other one to the same brand as the other. sometimes a tiny difference in the bilbs causes a fault - had this on a bmw i had, swapping both bulbs solved it.
