Dashboard switches

Please can you help me with information about the dashboard switches on my 1991 Carrera 2?I cannot find this information stated unequivocally in my drivers hamdbook. The electrical equipment that the switches operate all appears to be working entirely satisfactorily. There is a rotary three position light switch to the right of the steering wheel. Then there are three pull switches, for the front and rear fog lights and the heated rear window and finally, the cigar lighter. When I turn the light switch to the first position, the light switch does not illuminate but a green bulb lights up in one of the dials. The pull switches illuminate but the cigar lighter does not. Turning the switch once more causes the light in the dashboard gauge to go out. At no position is the light switch itself illuminated. Pulling the front fog light or the heated rear window switch out causes the switch to be illuminated more brightly. Pulling out the rear fog light switch out causes the light on the switch itself to go out. At no time is the cigar lighter lit, although once it has been pulled out, there is a light visible behind it. The cigar lighter will not stay pushed in to warm the element and then be allowed to pop out when ready. Are all the switches illuminated properly, and if not, can bulbs be purchased and installed in the switches or are new switches needed? Thank you. Philip.

Some light switches light up and some dont. The cigarette lighter socket should glow I think...mine does not. See this thread on Rennlist http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...h-lamps-2.html

All of your switch lighting is normal. Note that the rear fog will only work if the front fogs have been switched on first. The cigar lighter is not working because the metal tabs are not holding the lighter in securely. You need to adjust the tabs.

The pull switches illuminate but the cigar lighter does not.

That is correct and, as Steve describes, once you have adjusted the tabs you will be ready to light your cigars.
