Has anyone installed a DL1 into their car?
I just bought one to install in my RSR look alike and was wondering if anyone had any tips
TIA

JM,

I have a DL1 in my GT3. It needs to be mounted flat, so I use the centre console behind the locker, plug in to lighter, run the GPS receiver out the window

Learning to use the analysis software is harder. I have spent some time on this but am still a novice.

Was thinking of setting up a support group for other owners so we can get the best out of it.
We coudl get the guys to wrote the software to come along and instruct.

Sounds great. Did you install the RPM signal?
A guy in London who has a 993RS (and I met through Rennlist) explained how to do it and unfortunately, though I think I did it all right, I can get the logger to pick up the signal. To be fair, mine was a DL90. I upgraded yesterday and will try again.
Your support group idea sounds great though

I'm the guy in London!

More than happy to help if you have any more questions. I'll be at Bedford this Saturday if you are there - Silver 993RS. Alternatively drop me a private email (I think you have the address) with your phone no and it may be easier to chat.

I havent tried the RPM signal, could do this though, to eb honest, have focussed on trying to see affect of different lines thru corners on sector time.

I am in West London also, so maybe could meet up

Phil,

suggest we fix it on mine before we start messing with yours....
When are you next in Spa? I'm there on July 20 and 21st and then on August 8,9 and 1o with the Goodwood club.

Thanks for address.

For Spa, will probably not be able to intersect with you at these dates. September might be my next trip.

Zub,
Thanks for the great instructions, I have the manuals for my 964 (and 993) so I was able to look at what you sent me and check in the manauls. There are some differences, but nothing major (e.g. there's no throttle position on the 964 motronic, just a full on and full off).
Anyway, I did a connection on the RPM signal (I don't have a scope so I can't see PWM signals) and put it into the DL90 but nothing came out of it... I e-mailed the guys in Nottingham and they said that the DL1 was much better - so I forked another £300 at it and will give it another try.
Incidentally, where do you put the antenna and the black box in your 993? My 964 is a full race car, no interior etc...

All the best
JM

Ok, let me know when you're going. Are you still in the US?
Any interest in going to Castle Combe for a day together?

Tim,

Have you some files to analyse? You should try to record some on next track days.

You can combine files from different cars, so could overlay yours and mine, or better yours and SteveRs (or any of the fast set).

I will try to remember to bring my laptop to next Bedford evening session, we can analyse in the bar afterwards.[]

Otherwise, we could meet up during a weekend.
