Daytime Running lights

I have a 2009 Gen 2, I always thought that the DRL's were standard, i have lust found out on mine that they only operate on the light switch first position.

Is this right and if so can the cae be programmed for them to work as DRL's?

TIA,

Steve

On my 2009 Gen II Cayman S you can change whether they are switched on all the time, or not, using the on board computer. Takes a bit of finding but under "Set", "Light", "Daytime Light" and make sure the blob is in the square. I imagine the Boxster is the same. Good luck!

If I remember correctly you only get DRLs if you specified the Xenons option when the car was built, so assume yours has got Xenons? At least that's so on the Cayman.

I have the same year/model as you and when I picked the car up the first time both my normal headlights and my LED side lights came on with the ignition so I tried to change this in the set up menu on my PCM display and I could only get it to either come on with both or neither so now I just switch them on as you would with any side lights but have never investigated whether in fact it could be achieved separately.

OPC's can reset just the LED side lights to come on without the dipped beams too via their laptops [;)]

If you don't have the Bi-Xenon headlights Steve, when daytime driving lights are activated (as Brian has indicated using the on-board computer commands), the dipped beam is switched on when the engine is running and the light switch is off.

If you have the Bi-Xenons, daytime driving lights (in this case, the large circular lamps in the grille below the headlamps - ie the fog lights in the non Bi-Xenon cars) are switched on when the engine is running and the light switch is off.

The LEDs are just the sidelamps.

Not anymore, my car is at Porsche Cardiff and they have had new diagnostic software that doesn't now allow this.

Also, I have lost my cluster display, still here they've trying to rectify it!

Shame you're not local to London as I have the old diagnostic software which does allow this change.

Thanks for the offer Nick.

a quick update, the cluster has also lost the gear shift indicator as well as the audio setting and the best thing is Porsche Cardiff can't get them back!

they have to enquire with Porsche UK whom then may have to enquire with Porsche Germany.

Would suggest they do a 'vehicle handover' and if that doesn't work code the cluster as if it were new, the mileage can't be changed so that will remain.
