De-Cat pipe.??

Has anybody fitted a de-cat pipe to there S2??

If so , did it make any difference , Power / noise etc etc...??

Ive already got a Janspeed twin outlet rear section on my S2.

Andy RR who is very occasionally on here has a Hayward ans Scott one and says it's good.

I imagine they make a big difference because my cab was noticeably quicker over the winter which I fancied was accompanied by a sportier sound. When it came to MoT time that turned out to be a crack between the lambda and the cat and once it was welded up it was noticeably less quick and noticeably dull sounding.

I've got the Janspeed back box and decat pipe and the car does spin up much quicker and certainly feels quicker and it's a lot louder than standard (in a good way though) - having said that it's also running a Blitzchip and an induction kit which will help airflow and increase the noise.

I posted a short vid clip on here a while back of the car before and after and other of me going through the gears

When I was talking with Richard 'Blitz' he said the chip wasn't optimised for decat and we agreed that when I decatted the cab I'd let him know so he could send me a new map. Obviously I never did.

I think it is fine if you keep the lamda without the cat but he was saying that still more power comes from removing the closed loop emissions monitoring when you lose the cat. I have heard the same from my mechanic too so it should be true.

Still got the lamda at the moment Fen so would be interested in the option of removing it - is it worth dropping Richard a note?

Info:
Pre August 89 S2's didn't have Cat's as pointed out by Andrew at Promax. If you have a K in the VIN number it means no Cat and if you have an L it means the car has a Cat. Would of though K stands for Cat in German (Katen), but thats German enginerring for you[:D]

May 89 S2

I think it's just that K was the letter code for '89 and L was for '90. It wasn't as cut and dried as that either as post '90 cars could have the cat deleted and I wouldn't bet too much that all '89 cars didn't have a cat. Andy RRs cab might well be an '89 and it had a cat for example.
