Came home tonight and noticed the red alarm light wasn't flashing.
tried opening the car on the button, nothing.
Opened it with the key and tried starting it and is completely dead.
Can't open the bonnet to check the battery.
any ideas

Hello,
Mark, how are you?

Its 2004. I've spoken to Andrew at the Porsche Centre Colchester and managed to get to the battery.
It's on charge now. I hope I don't have to get a new one.

Why under my username does it say that i'm a non member?

Best wishes
Terry Joyce

Hi Terry, sorry - didn't notice it was you!

Glad you got to the battery.

You are shown as a non-member because you need to confirm your details (the welcome email from the forum tells you what to do).

I'll change it for you though [;)]

Mark,

What is the significance of wetness behind the passenger seat? Not that my boxter is wuld like to know what would be wrong

Thanks

Chris

No, I called the RAC and he said the battery was still flat, obviously my charger wasn't working. He got it started.
I found the problem. I've just started preparing for The RoSPA Advanced Driving Test and the man who took me out put his seat right back and also tilted the back of the seat. He managed to jam the switch so it was still trying to push the seat back. Obviously once I stopped it drained the battery.

I assume if it's wet around the passenger seat the is a drain blocked somewhere.
Is this something that i should check for?

If the roof channels are blocked water will get in via the passengers footwell and fill up with water that is where the brains of the car are seemingly ...some one with more knowledge will no doubt explain better ,I think there are several post as to this problem ,are you coming along to the club night tomorrow at the Sheerbrooke?

Thanks for the info Brian, I seem to remember a post about the channels. Wont be able to make tomorrow night working late, but will try to make one of the other meetings this month if I can

That's pretty much it.
I was a bit worried that it might have happened in this case. Thankfully it hasn't [:)]
The cost of a new electronics unit is horrible...[]

What do you need to do to keep the roof channels clear?
Is there anything that can be done to protect the electrics?

Are you going to Cornbury on Sunday?
