Is the deep sump conversion as fitted to the X51 engine conversion worthwhile for a fast road track car?.Do regularily tracked 996s suffer from oil starvation?
I also want to improve the brake cooling flow, are the air guides fitted under a Gt3 retrofit for a carrera 2?
Does anyone know the part number,as I couldnt find one the last time I was under a GT3

The X51 sump pan isn't deeper, it just has modified internal baffles to try and prevent surge. There is an extra oil return pump or something like that included in the X51 kit from the factory.

There are 2 options for front brake cooling, the 997GT3 ducts or the Motorsport Cup ducts. Have a read of this... http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996-turbo-gt2/147114-997-gt3-brake-ducts.html
Alot of information and part numbers for front and rear options.

My advice for fast road and the odd track day would be upgrade your fluid to Castrol SRF and use the 997GT3 ducts. If you then upgrade pads to something like pagid RS29 then I'd consider further cooling options...
