Delay with PSE fitted Boxsters

Returned home to call from OPC saying sorry but "Germany has called today to say 4 week delay due to my options particularly PSE".
Build was supposed to be mid July. Anyone else had a similar call, and is it simply that they've underestimated the uptake of PSE of those unhappy with standard sound that's missing the deep howl of the 986's 3.2?

Ordered 20" wheels by chance ???

No Nick, gone for standard 19" wheels, was going for colour black but thought it looked too dull overall with Basalt Black after seeing similar at dealers.

You are lucky you haven't ordered the 20" wheels as there are shortages in tyres for these with Pirelli's currently being the only N rated option.

No. Left it off in case of a delay and all thr literature and chat with product manager had said July for PSE

Spoke to my Dealer yesterday who said demand for PSE was higher than expected. Unlike yourself, I was told by 3 OPC's incuding Reading that June was first month for PSE, but no doubt they've run out of supplies. I guess the many road tests that have extolled the virtue of PSE have persuaded many to go for it. In my case I was not really impressed with standard, hence my going PSE route. Looks like it might be September delivery now which is a shame as I'm booked into Pentille Castle Festival of Speed the last weekend in August and I was looking forward to a run down to Cornwall from Sussex in a 981.

I would hold out for your PSE; I know it is tempting to drop the option and take the car earlier. However, I can see why the dealers would be keen to get someone to cancel it as the sale would fall into next years sales figures otherwise ie post September.

Benefit to you is you will get a MY2013 car with the PSE together with any revisions for the next model year ie the bugs should have been fixed.

I have PSE on my 987 and once you have driven one with PSE the non-PSE cars seem tame.

Nick - Certainly sticking with PSE, but after Festival of Speed yesterday and looking at 3D configorator late into last night, I have decided to go for colour coded basalt black standard wheels with the basalt black exterior. Rung dealer this am. to change but spec now locked. However, after they phoned Reading good news can change, but slight delay which should be commensurate with delay for PSE. Better to get what you want as in my case likely to be last "sports" car.

Rule number 1 always spec what YOU want and not what the dealer thinks are good options for him on a re-sale.

I think the salesman is only thinking of this deals margin, his bonus and the resale is just too far away for him to compute or even probably still be there [:D]

Personally I have always ordered the spec I wanted because when it comes to selling you will always have the wrong this that or other in the used car buyers book

Agreed, but last time I met my salesman he said as my car is such an ideal spec I would be best off selling it privately as they would only give me a basic trade value. Plus put plenty of miles on it in the meantime.

The wait for PSE will be worth it. Just got mine without and really really regretting not having. At least I can retrofit it.
After having a Spyder with it the 981 sound like an electric car to me. Loved the noise at low speeds and took various routes to hear it.
The 981 seems to lack character to me with the std exhaust
