Delivery specs

Probably been asked before! I have acquired an '84 3.2 Carrera with Turbo Body. Originally registered in Germany, then imported into Spain (Canary Is.) where I will keep it. I have been unable so far to get confirmation of the delivery specifications - especially confirmation that the Turbo look is factory- of this car using the chassis number. Any suggestions?

For a fee you can get a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche, which should include the ex-factory spec. You may need to go through A.G., but try GB first.

Check for white sticker on the underside of the front bonnet. If original ie not been painted the option codes should be on there. There are websites to decifer the option codes but can't remember the names of them. Hope this helps.

If it's genuine the car will have Turbo suspension and brakes. Easy check is to verify that rear wheels are not fitted with very thick spacers. Modified cars need spacers to push wheels out to fill the wide arches. The Turbo look option code can sometimes be missing (sorry can't remember number), so not having it may not be bad news.

It should be noted that standard wide bodied cars and turbos actaully have a spacer on the back anyway.. Because things like Brakes and Suspension can be changed, the only real way of knowing is to ask Porsche who will probably charge a small fee..

From the attached pic of the front brakes on our old SSE you can eaily see the big turbo brakes, and the rears are noticibly even more different to a standard 3.2.
