Dension Gateway 500

I am thinking about installing the Dension Gateway 500 into my 997. My PCM is v2.1. Has anyone had any experience "good or bad" of getting this product installed to control their Ipod?

Not yet - but the Dension is currently on it's way from eBay via Royal Mail! Spoke to a local installation company and they have done them before in Porsches and didn't find any major problems. I hope to have it fitted in a couple of weeks so if you haven't done it by then I'll let you know how it goes.

I have had a Dension unit in my 06 C2 for around 18mths now, and I would thouroughly recommend it. You get the same level of controls via the PCM as you do on then Ipod. I was lucky enough to get a new Iphone so my old 5G ipod stays in the car (Under the bonnet in the area near the navigation unit (and disc changer if you have one). I did a long [:)] post some time back about mine being fitted, and how I initially went for a different alledgedly better brand which failed miserably, and how it all went. Put in a search and you'll find it Regards Paul

May have been this one [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=320594&mpage=1&key=denison]http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=320594&mpage=1&key=denison[/link] garyw

I've now had the unit fitted and must say that it works very well - it will happily play music from my iPhone or via a USB stick, and the phone function works well via Bluetooth. The only slight downside is that you get a 'phone error' message every time the PCM starts up as the built-in phone has to be disconnected in order for the car controls to be able to interface with the Bluetooth. That's only a very minor problem though and the call quality is excellent.

Re the warranty question, two things, a) there is a little switch on the front of the Dension unit that makes it invisible to the Porsche test equipment (PWIS?) and b) I have had a new exhaust, new instrument cluster, a new complete engine and the majority of the cost of a flywheel, all done under warranty without any issue. Maybe my OPC (Bournemouth) is just one of the good ones? Regards Paul
