Dent Repairs - Good companies?

I've got a small dent in the driver's door - about tennis-ball sized. The OPC/Solus shop gave me a quote for £1k + VAT (as they'd have to respray the whole side to get a good colour match)... But went on to say that I might get better value getting the dent pulled out. Obviously this wouldn't give me a totally invisible repair, but he reckoned that it'd be much better value for money if I didn't mind still being able to spot a slight imperfection.

Now all this sounds reasonable to me - but I though I'd ask you guys about any experiences you've had. Two questions specifically:
1) Of those of you that've had dents pulled out, what was the result like?
2) Would you recommend [or warn against] any particular companies... Either national chains or companies local to SW London / Surrey area.

thanks
Colin

Dent Wizards - absolutley fantastic

I had a small outward dent (closed the bonnet on a metal case []) and they removed it - the repair is completley invisible and the cost was £50 plus VAT (Porsche Reading said £700 for a respray but they recommended Dent Wizards)

Dink Devil removed three small dents from my MGF for £50 cash in 1999. Two were perfect and the third almost so. I was very happy with the result.

I think they are a franchised operation, so it may depend on the individual who does the work. However, they presumably all receive similar training and use the same tools. My guy removed a dink in a box section panel by sliding in a long spoon shaped device and levering from some distance. My dealer claimed near total success in using them to refurbish second hand cars.

Surely worth a punt before you lash out on a respray.

Thanks for these two recommendations.

I tried Dent Wizards - but they unfortunately won't cover my area. But for the benefit of anyone else in the same situation, they now charge £85 plus VAT.

I'll try Dink Devil next. But do keep the suggestions and/or stories coming.

thanks
Colin

Colin I use a London Based Company called Ace Dents 0208-859-8382
but they cover the country.

Excellent work use them on company fleet vehicles often with great success ... Good Luck Rob

Loads of good PDR (paintless dent removal) firms out there now.

The service managers at your local OPC, BMW or Merc dealer will have a dentmeister they swear by. My friendly Bimmer guy gave me his contact (instead of trying to book me in his shop at a marked-up price).

Good luck!

This is the firm my OPC recommended. So it's good to hear of somebody recommending them - thanks.

These were the first guys a called, a week of so ago. But despite me being in SW London, and them SE London, they said they didn't cover me area on their 'route'.
Incidentally, they said they usually only provide services "to the trade". Although they were willing to be flexible about that (had I been on their route!)

I think that given the recommendations for these guys, I should find a way of BEING on their route one day.

thanks
Colin

Surely all you have to do is go to there offices and have the work done there.

It usually takes less than 5 minutes to remove the nastiest of dents and often it's done in about a minute ..... It's worth a try ... Robert

Unfortunately that's not the case. But I'm sure I'll find a way.

tks

I've got a large dent to my passenger door thanks to a family members volvo estate. I looked on the dent wizards international website which showed demonstations of repairing large dents. I have left a message with them as they are closed at the moment, but get the impression that the UK branch of this company doesn't repair larger dents (quoted tennis ball size or less on the prerecorded message). Has anyone had any experience of removing larger dents where the paintwork is fine and the rest of the door structure is intact? I would really appreciate any feedback or experience that anyone has had, as I would like to avoid replacing the door if possible.

Many thanks,
Nick

An acquaintance had a football-sized dent removed from the door of his BMW by a PDR technician.
