"Drooping, I reluctantly accept my wicked fate"
So you had too many Smithwicks and missed the last Luas.
Better roads over here boysie and the tax rates are a sight more acceptable

Dont particularly like that statement... Reeks of bent metal and smashed glass....[]

How come Dublin and Depression are in the same sentence [:D]

Just paid my 1 year car tax. €1,109 for the 12 months.
This to a government which has it's PM in a tribunal today due to money he got back in the early 90's when he says he didnt' have a bank account (even though he was our minister for finance then) and needed money from 'mates' to help him out and never paid them back until forced last year. It's a farce. Every cent I pay in tax I shed a tear so paying that much to drive on roads so bad until your brain shatters against your skull, until your eyes are facing inwards and your teeth fall out and your wife, who was sitting unbelted beside you is now upside down in the rear of the car and blocking your vision.
Don't get me started.

I'll be up in Letterkenny this weekend. If I see your car I'll be sure to say "Yesh Shir" and assume the salute position. God, I hope I don't end up in the orchard or the grill.

RE: Letterkenny. My family on the Irish side comes from Donegal. I have a few relatives up that end. I remember when I was a kid ppl use to go to Letterkenny and marvel at the traffic light.

RE: Road condition. Next time you are in the UK try driving through Somerset. It is one of lifes great mysteries how the roads in Wiltshire are OK, Dorset OK but Somerset as bad as I remmember in Donegal in the 80's. Seriously what the lefty londoners don't understand is that down here the country roads can be so bad you need a big 4x4 so as not to end up with a wheel ripped of by one of the man size potholes.

You have just been rodgered by Brian and Bertie (taking turns...)[&:] The whole country is a mess. The govt. lines their pockets with your cash and that puppet show they call a tribuneral is a farce... Bertie will come out smelling of roses - wait and see [] If this sort of stuff happened in England there would be a revolt..... Gordon would be out in a flash..... We just lie back and take it off the government [] RANT OVER FOR TODAY...[:(]

Dont get me started about the car tax Kevin please[] And the so called roads full of donkeys.....[] If you are coming to Letterkenny this weekend you would be better to take off now in the hope of getting there before Saturday night. All I can think about is the "old c**ts" doing 30mph on the N14 outside Lifford in their 95 VW Ventos and 97 Starlets......[:'(][:'(]

Am in Galway at the moment so...

I'll PM you my moby no so you can give us a ring/txt and let me know where yer at sur......[;)]

You've sold the road conditions to us so well, that I'm sure you'll have loads of takers :ROFLMAO:

Seriously though I think that's a pretty good proposal, we've had 944 Register trips to the Lakes, Germany, Le Mans and Scotland but never to Ireland

Well Paul ...R27 hosted the Tour of the North in August which concentrated on Donegal for 2 of the days. I was involved along with the crew in getting it together. We had members from R27, PCI and R1. The weather was not kind but it didnt dampen the spirits of the boys.[;)]

April or May is a good enough time when you can get cheap sailings and hotel breaks. If you leave it with me I will come up with a rough plan. I would say maybe 3 or 4 days..depending on what the crew want themselves. Now is the time to organise this trip in the off season..... or at least see if there is much interest. [;)]

Sounds deadly.
Just to help me today it's decided to lash rain so the roads will be fine and slippery.
100 left, over crest, into 3 right and 4 left over crest, over ditch, into field, over cow.

Me thinks who will be the first to bounce of the road into a bog.

You will have to "bounce" past my Ford Focus Van with the warning beacons first Neil [:D]

Safety First [;)]

Yikes.

I'm an ex-Galwegian now living in California and I pay a bit less than $100/year for road tax (called 'registration') for my 1991 S2. €1,109 for the 12 months... mother of God...

On the other hand:

(1) I pay $14,000/year in property (house) tax
(2) And you can't get a decent pint-of-plain here for love or money.

Karl.
