The ex-Des Sturdee 964RS is truly on heat now in the hands of Madman Shaun... having followed a few laps round the Ring behind this legendary RS it was truly on fire shooting flame to anyone daring to get close.....never come across this before in non-turbo cars.....can someone please explain this spector........[&:]

Glad someone else has experienced Madman Shaun. I thought I was going soft when I started grabing the sides of the seat on the test drive. It's not often my customers get the back end moving out of line on a test drive. Keep up the good work.[]
Des you should have mail regarding the wide boy.

[]Madman Shaun was certainly monstoring thr RING with sub 9 minute laps! He was up with and mostly spanking the much more exotic machinery including GT3, 993RS and up with the BIG lazy Turbo boys....What a wheelman his first Ring visit and fearless in a 964RS!!!! Sliding it around like Torvill and Dean....digging the nose in those tight Ring Curves and riding the humps like a bucking bronco, while flaming....you could hear the gear changes thru that roaring twin exhaust....the benefit of buying a well sorted car and an obvious driving talent combined....[]
Forgot to explain the flames. It's just unburnt fuel entering the exhaust system, normally only happens when you lift off suddenly for say gear changes. This will then ignite itself in the red hot exhaust manifolds. It really puts you off in your own car if you're having some fun on a back road at night and the whole road behind you keeps lighting up.
Jah Herr Classik....tecnik Herren...yes he was certainly shifting up and down and smacking the race tuned ABS with VENOM.
I WANT ONE NOW DUNKER

The ex-Des Sturdee car as now owned by Shaun has a straight through exhaust system with cat by-pass no pre-silencer and no end silencer with twin outlets sound fairly loudish at low revs but becomes glorious on full resonance you can actually hear the gear changes following him even in another RS with a cup pipe etc......
Cargraphic actually do a straight through CUP system with single outlet GLORIOUS.......these cars were meant to be seen and heard......
Rumour is my Pal Des is soon to be with a new toy soon...have you seen the Cup Car on H&S site although seems a litte expensive......
Enjoy those dB's.....

Sounds like fun! Will a standard engine do this? I've got a Cat & Primary by-pass if that would make any difference!
Andy
Yes Andy get a straight through system;
you will:
[FONT=courier new"]1. Save masses of weight
[FONT=courier new"]2. Increase power to weight ratio
[FONT=courier new"]3. Better and quicker throttle response
[FONT=courier new"]4. Fantastic all involving sound
[FONT=courier new"]5. More Power....maybe 5 - 10 BHP at least!
[FONT=courier new"]
Need to check year of your 964 to get through mot with no cat but think 92 cars ok.....otherwise 100 cell sports cat no doubt soneone will verify.....
Why starve your engine let it breathe naturally.....................

You mention the Cargraphic system, I am wondering if you can help ....I've got an ingy-doo-do Cargraphic system on my old sausage with twin outlets.....Looks pretty impressive when you look at all that fancy pipework but sounds like bee farting in a tin can. (not really you understand) but I want it to sound like Shauns. (He followed me down to Le Man and I could still hear him even though he was behind)
I've got Cats on my system, do you know if they can be launched in favour of a bit of pipe.
( Of course if your not a Cargraphic exhaust expert...just tell me to find out myself and I'll understand.

The only Cargraphic bit on Shauns car is the twin outlet and G-PIPE.....I would guess yoy need to replace the end silencer with a g-pipe and make sure you have a cat by-pass and make sure your twin outlet is a straight through non-silencer box...this might account for the fact that your car is down on BHP and Torque and a lot slower on track...
I would also suggest joining next Ring trip to fully evaluate your car and nervous disposition shame so many RS drivers have never experienced the Ring.......[]

Ok I'm going now.........
The Cargraphic system must be quite a sorted system if price is anything to go by. Certainly well made. It's got the twin outlets but I just need to launch the cats I reckon.
Shauns car pipped me at the last weigh in by about half a horse or lets be generous and call it a Donkey.[]
Shaun...got any spare scaffold?

I think there was a significant difference in Torque and power at the back wheels..........

The torque was down on Des's...............Hard to believe cos the bloke chats for england []
Buy some cat bypass pipes. try www.fvd.com or .de they probably have them. they will also be nice shiny stainless too and bolt or clamp straight on. Can't remember your set up Lee but these people will have "both types" of cat bypass. Any car running Dessie's set up will have real trouble at trackdays btw.
