Sorry Admin but I have posted this in completely the wrong thread.

Can anyone recommend an independant dealership within the Derby area for servicing ?

Many thanks

Chris

Thank you Helen,

not too far from me.

Have you had any dealings with them ? I take it they obviously come highly rated ?

Chris

yes. over several years with several diffrent cars. they even completly re-built a 944S2 engine for me [8D]

I haven't used since they moved north out of Nottingham as they are just too far away from me now.

Ah right, I see you Leicestershire, which would make it a bit of a trek for you.

I shall have a pop across and perhaps have a chat with them, see if they have any further advice etc regarding the Cayman.

Thanks again Helen.

Chris

I can recommend them - deal with a lot of my cars and if you are water cooled then they know more than most of the other indys having been Porsche technicians in the water cooled age.

They certainly will be able to help with your cayman.

I use Mike and the guys at Zentrum as well. Excellent service

Pain for me to get to, but i wouldn't take my car anywhere else, so i grin and bear it. Usually make a day of it and catch the bus from just over the road from their garage into Notts for a spot of shopping and lunch

Vote of confidence from me. Excellent service and Mike and Jim know their stuff. Hard to find a mechanic you trust and I do and will stick with them. Used them for 4 years and they get better in terms of services they can offer.

I rate Mike very highly and use him for my 550 servicing and repairs etc - been a customer of his since he set up on his own in late 2003!

He was also BMW trained so if you have a Beemer, he's your man too!

+1 for Zentrum

Hands down the best according to near everyone I know who owns or had owned a Porsche.

I'd take your important stuff and any major work there.

Otherwise, if you're looking something cheaper for routine stuff on older Porsches like servicing etc, then nearer to Derby is Churchwalk Garage in Stapleford just off the A52. Ask for Rich there. I've used them for years on my Mazdas as he's ex-Mazda, but he's also been a Porsche enthusiast for many years and drives them himself. This guy has probably saved me hundreds, if not thousands over the years and so far I've not been disappointed. For the same full service, he was over £100 cheaper than Zentrum(!), and £50 cheaper for cam timing/balance shaft belt changes .... he's fixed all my issues on my new 944 so far plus went the extra mile in tuning the engine which I didn't ask him to do at no charge! However I've not tested him on the really nasty/major Porsche stuff yet.....

So my official recommendation is Zentrum, for now.

Thanks again for the recommendations. I shall be speaking with the guys at Zentrum in the coming weeks. Just to give our new purchase the once over etc.
