Had a great Day recently with Car Mag and Derek Bell ... make sure you get your copy of June Car .... 60 Jahre Porsche Edition ....

Des, are you the one in the frog suit and lederhosen at the start of the video? [;)]

Nice one, your car looks and sounds very nice on the drive-by in the opening shot. [:D]

Really put a smile on my face! Derek is such a hero!
Would love to see the footage of him driving Des's and Vic's cars!!!!!

The vid concentrates on 2.7 RS AND 997 GT2.............mag has some good historic and modern stuff, 63 pages , bland but reasonably accurate with DB S feelings after driving all our cars ................he is a Good Boy , had us in fits from the minute he arrived ...............dont be put off by the guy on the vid , hes a great journo but wahts it worth to DB .......come on !

First time I went to Le Mans, Derek Bell won - made it a very special ocasion. Of course after that Jag, Merc, Mazda and Pugeot got in the way, then the ACO changed the rules and Porsche gave up.

Did you get Derek to sign the engine cover on your clubbie Des?[:D]

More importantly, did he sort out the handling foibles you turned up at Silverstone last year?
I'm only jealous, I think Derek Bell is a top banana and would have loved to have him behind the wheel of my car.
Surely the valuation of your car by the mag of £50k must be way out now with that history????
Did you tow the car there behind the crew camper for the full effect whilst wearing race overalls....

Surely not now that Car Magazine has 'outed' the car as a 'Lightweight' and not a Clubbie [:D]

- maybe Derek Bell put in the boot because Des was holding back his 924GT instead of pushing? [:D]

I wouldn't be interested in Derek Bell's opinion - I would rather have Walter Rohl drive it!

I had Walter Röhrl drive my car years ago on the Nürburgring GP circuit - a very special experience. This guy drove it in a totally different way from any other racing driver I know. So smooth, so fast, almost not using the steering wheel, brake left foot... some racers work really hard on the steering wheel, he was playing a violin!
While doing that he gave me his opinion about the set up, which really helped.
He had fun to drive his former race car again after years, so what a great day that was.

Over here he´s still a hero, what about the UK?

Rgds and thx for reminding me of a few laps I´ll never forget.

Just read magazine article...looks like Derek is a kettle lover then.[&:]
Thinks steering is too heavy on our cars as well....better do some press ups then sunhine![:D]

If you've never seen this video of Walter before - it will blow you away! Then anybody like to tell me they would prefer Derek Bell to drive their car - I think not! [:D]

Knew that one --- blinding! There´s a million stories like that about Walter and prob another million not told yet. He in fact is the man to listen to about racing and Porsches. I know some racing drivers, but he´s really different. I guessed it before but having seen him on the wet Nordschleife eventually made me believe it.

Hacki,

He obviously left foot braked in your car as he had the foot free!

I love the pedal dancing in the video.

Did today Des.

I'm sure it was a good day & there are some nice pics, but what a superficial set of articles? OK we may know a tad more than Joe Public, but I doubt even many Car readers are going to learn much from reading that.

Anyone want my (very lightly used) copy?
