Desperately seeking replacement ECU!

HI everyone, hoping that someone can help with this one.

I've a 1987 3.2. My ECU has packed up and the ECU doctor says that the unit is irrepairable.

I've tried replacement units from Camens who have been really helpful, but for some reason the car doesnt like them and no amount of tweaking can get the thing to start properly, although runs ok when warmed up.

I've tried swapping out the unit with a 1988 stock Bosch ECU from another car and the car starts up and runs excellent.

My local independent garage has tried his usual suppliers and no one has anything, even refurbished avialable ( including the ECU doctor)

Can anyone think of anyone I could contact or who might be holding these in stock and I'll check them against my `already tried them `list.

Design 911 advertise a new Bosch replacement unit, but they dont have any in stock and cant say when if ever they will be geting new stock.

Ebay only currently has US stuff, no Euro Spec ECU's.

I guess the old girl is dead in the water until I can find a supplier.

The factory will have them available, if in stock, at a massive price (£2300 IIRC). A typical second hand ECU will cost anything from £200 to £350.

Paul used to be a significant porsche dismantler but concentrates more on fixing/breaking Mazda MX-5's these days. Simon, the head mechanic, was Offical Porsche Centre trained and employed for 15 years, so he knows the old bangers inside out.

I am sure that Paul has a few ECU 's of the 3.2 in stock, at least he had when I bought one for my 964.

His service rates are village-mechanic reasonable, and they don't object to paying cash.

Hi Charles, my independent `found` an old ECU that he had picked up an an autojumble several years ago and had forgotten all about.

He sent it away for repair and it did have a fault which was fixed and its in the car now with a years guarantee.

I've kept a note of everyones suggestions though in case that one goes phutt as well
