Detail service maybe!!!!!

Hi peeps please stress im still trying to gauge interest in my venture. If this is against forum please remove. I am in the process of setting up my own car detailing service. I have recently been doing some work now im really going to build a client base so i can give this a real go. Basically the service i am hoping to provide is a full exterior valet which includes: Wash rinse and dry, Clay bar treatment, Paint cleaner, Polish, Sealer and glaze, Wax. Also wheels will be gleaming, tyres shined, tail pipes shines and glass polished. The process can take anywhere between 4-6 hours depending on vehicle. Who would be interested in such a service? Thanks for your time and help Steve

Well I guess like all things it is cost related.

How much?

By the way I do think that such a posting is a bit iffy.

It certainly sounds interesting but clearly you will have competition from the established detailers... Sorry to state the obvious - it's not price but quality that will be decisive. Good luck!

You're having a laugh. You've put this post on a number of forums and it is the only topic you have posted about with this user name.

If you want to be taken seriously suggest you fill out your profile with genuine info and stick to the GDA or your region. Even better take out an ad in the traders index and stay off the forums.

I am trying to gauge some interest as there is no point in me really putting a whole lot of finance into this if everyone is happy to do the detailing themself. I know how it looks thats why i have tried to word it the way i have but its hard. Thanks for looking though

Also price would range between 100-160 depending on car and distance from myself. (if this goes ahead)

Sorry but it's hard to take you seriously. Why the anonymity?

If you are genuine then I wish you well with it.

Maybe you have experience of running and starting businesses?

IMHO there is no way you will get a financially viable detailing business on private work in less than 2-3 years because it takes time to build up a reputation (and trust) and most people don't generally do it more than once per year per car. So you'll need a few serious collectors or a trade business especially for the first few years and:
a) you won't get much back from the trade on a forum because of the lack of confidentiality and the tentative/ anonymous nature of your position.
b) trade work/ collection work can potentially give you a living with volume but obviously not margin but
c) there is obviously established competition.

By the way, you might want to consider possible competitive reactions to the early warning and advance information that you are providing by going on the forums.

Hi, as i say im just trying to gauge some interest at the moment, and by doing so im not trying to tread on anyones toes. I know there are some outstanding detailers out there which im sure u people are aware of. With myself im just trying to get a chance or a break in to a very competitive and skilled business. I know this is not the best way to have introduced myseld to this cmmunity maybe that was a mistake and for that i apologise. I am genuine i will be here to offer help in anyway (as long as its not mechanical, not my stringest point) Thanks for your comments though i do listen and take them onboard. Thanks

...... you might want to consider possible competitive reactions to the early warning and advance information that you are providing by going on the forums.

Does that mean punters are likely to get a better deal as established competitors drop their prices to try to squeeze out the new commers?

My mate is starting a detailing business and so is his wife and her three brothers - that's 5 new potential detailing companies (well perhaps) so current posh wash & polish opperatives should be damn nigh paying me to wax Beaky. [:D].

As my car is black it looks dirty ten minutes after it is waxed so it would be a complete waste of money for me.... Waxing is about all the exercise I get these days and I find it quite theraputic.

Never mind the grammer !

Perhaps a few evening classes in business studies and and O level in english might not go amiss first of all !

Thanks for your input but i do already have an a-level in business studies so for me to progress further maybe i should touch up my English and my IT. Thanks again
