What detailing advice can anyone give regarding protecting new paintwork?

My car has the front end and roof painted starting next week. When I get it back I will need to think about protecting the gleaming new paint. What would be the best approach to laying down a good shield to mitigate stone chips.?

In a sad way I am really looking forward to next week-end and spending hours making it look like new again.

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated

no matter how much zymol you put on it ain't going to stop stone chips[:(] Either one of the above protection methods eg film or just accept that the front end will need a respray every few years depending on use. Don't think you would need anything other than a good wax (zymol, swissvax etc etc) on the roof though imho.

TBH the only way to really avoid stone chips is to use one of the bras the americans seem so fond of butlook really awful(imho)[:D]

Thanks one and all,

I know the chips will come back but with the metalic black and light primer the bloomin things show up so much. I don't really like the applied protective films (or bras, cept on women!)

So a good waxing week-end to come.

The trouble with a car bra is that the paint fades differently under the bra where it hasn't been exposed to UV. I used to see this really bad back home in Australia for understandable reasons, it ends up looking really bad. In fact stone chips would be better!
