DFI engine hesitation when cold

Anybody experienced their 997 Gen 2 DFI... Running lean or slight hesitation in power when driving from cold? It Feels like it's lean on fuel but once warm runs fine... Had it in a few times to OPC but they can't find any issues? I have read that it may be a warm up procedure of the DFI engine? Car is a 3.6 manual.

It needs an Italian tune up.

Can you get to Oulton Park a week tomorrow?

I think I can get the day off...

My 991 C2S hesitates occasionally during the first mile after starting from cold. I have assumed it is a characteristic of the DFI engine.

Hi, It may not be linked at all but I had a fuel actuator go on my 58 plate GenII. It made it hesitant from cold especially (like it was pulling back and abit rough feeling) but also had some hesitancy when warm as well (although not on the motorway). It was changed for me under warranty. Other than that, I wouldn't say mine hesitated under normal running from cold in the 4 years I had that car. Nor does my GTS I've had for nearly two years.

Cheers,
Simon

I've never had any hesitancy cold or hot in 6 years of DFI ownership. Packed up altogether when the high pressure fuel pump gave up though![:(] There were reports of the DFI being prone to coking up of the injectors, or some such, and that Rob's "Italian tune up" (Or a 997 register run![;)] ) was a good idea once in a while, especially if the car is only being used on short journeys with not much welly.

I generally wait one minute after starting in the cold, whilst the car settles. I think it's cam timing or something like that. Even then, once in a while, the car hesitates at the end of the road. It's like it is unsure what to do and there is no drive for a moment. Happens in the C2S but never the C4S.

Cheers everyone for your feedback, thanks also Simon, I may get it back it for that to be checked whilst under warranty. I have noticed it running a bit ruff every now and then around town? But couldn't get it to replicate whilst at OPC but they kept saying it was the switch between cams or a character of vario cam?
Cheers Guys
Jamie

I hope not it only done 14k miles... Still that's the beauty of warranty ... I'm just fussy about my machine

Let Clive hound you down the road for a while that'll put paw to any hesitancy. It'll only cost you a bone........

Hi Jamie,

Looks like we have virtually identical cars.

Mine is the 997 Gen2 manual, 3.6 with 17k miles, in white but black wheels...and I get exactly the same as you from cold.

Slight hesitation, seems to run lean (or rich), don't know, but never considered it to be a problem, just the car warming up.

Runs perfectly after a few hundred yards and quite happy with it to do that. Never try to rev it above 2.5/3k till its warmed up in anycase though.

Thanks for that! Good to know.. Just been on a spirited run for the weekend and it ran great, must just be a trait of the warmup cycle.
Post a picy... Bet it looks good with black wheels

Hopefully, there you go Jamie!

Oh... the wheels were standard but I have done some serious mods to it!!

I have changed the Carrera badge on the back to a black '911'.....[:D]
