Hi, could any of you experts please tell me whether this would be compatible with my car, ie 1998 C2. It seems very cheap!

I would like to find out codes if repairs are required and seem to be doing work on the car a little more but am concerned about knowing too much when it comes to the engine and so dont want to mess in this area too much, hence dont want to purchase expensive durametric testing kits.
My suspicion is that this probably wont work as it looks cheap.

Unfortunately, the UK 1998-99 C2's are not OBD2 compliant. You will find that you can read some sensor outputs, but you won't be able to access the fault register which contains Porsche-specific codes.

It would work fine on a 2000-onwards C2 or any C4, which have a different DME which is compliant. You would only be able to read engine and Tiptronic codes though.

You will probably be able to access some engine fault codes but not manufacturer specific codes.

Oops, Richard beat me to it by 9 seconds.

Any suggestions on what can be used on my model?

Even so, is this worth sharing with others do you think, as i said it does seem very cheap.

Durametric. It gives you near dealer capabilities apart from some coding functions. Unfortunately pre OBD compliant cars are quite limited by what you can use on them to get fault codes. As Richard said you can use the cheap one to see if it logs any sensor faults if the Engine Check light lights but it may not list all the faults. You can also probably reset the light with it.
