I am after the above for my 1999 boxster s, cant seem to find anywhere on ebay or net, unless want to pay for the all singing dancing ones!

I have one for my audi and golf was only £40 am just after something similar any ideas or links anyone could send with advice?

Would like to get in the next couple of days if possible so advice greatly appreciated.

thanks

The one you have for the VW/Audi should also work - assuming all cars are of an age to be either OBD or OBD2.

I've not scanned mine, but i have used it on a 2004 Fiat Panda and my 2010 VW Golf.

I can't access all functions, and live data capture is a bit hit n miss, but it will return basic fault codes and can reset EML.

Mine is just an OBD2 plug and usb cable to my laptop - £23 off ebay.

tried mine last night and would not work on any of functions, came up with error, mine is for post 2001 i think so not compatible.

Any idea where i can get hold of one specific to 1999 models?

thanks

Not sure - but i know an awful lot of the Porsche ecu is not available to the common fault readers. RAC/Porsche Assist can't read fault codes for instance as they don't have the Porsche tester. I doubt you'll find a economical reader that'll work sufficiently.

A 99' should be obd2 compliant but Porsche also produce their own specific codes (P codes) You could try american Company Durametric, do a search. Their reader is pretty good and reasonably priced. Though not cheap . I have used a generic obd2 reader in the past and it worked fine, mine was an elmscan device that I built from a kit(i only used it to check codes during routine service so never gave it a thorough test). You could also try ecufix.co.uk (i think) for other cheap..ish readers.
