If you want good fuel consumption in a relatively large, good quality SUV, buy an Audi Q3. With care I got 50 mpg. If you want a Porsche, buy a Macan.

Don't listen to Derek, he's biased [:D]

I, on the other hand, couldn't possibly be [] Serial Cayenne owner, and current diesel gives 32mpg easily on general running around.

I recently travelled down to Spain and averaged 38mpg at 120 kph. Great towing vehicle too, though not that many have towbars fitted.

Air suspension is a good choice if you can find one with it.

Hi, I'd a 2011 V6 Diesel Cayenne which I could get avg 35mpg on short general runs. I guess a 2009 model won't be too disimilar. A Toureg would be quite similar MPG as well I'd have thought, although a neighbour had one and his MPG was in the 20's. I think driving style would have played a part in this difference.

I'm getting around the 32mpg in the Diesel S I have now which. It has a towbar installed and air suspension and if you'd like to make an offer [;)]

Really interesting thread this as on my 4.2 V8 Diesel I never get less than 32 round town and typically on a Motorway approx 38 to 44. I don't sit at 65 mph either :)
