Diesel Kn/Toureg

Does the latest Kn and the Toureg have the same engine ?
Would you expect the Toureg to do more or less to the gallon ?

I think the block is the same but other bits are not. I expect the Touareg to have better consumption as it only weighs 15 tonnes as against the 16 tonne KN [;)]

Looks as if they may both have the same 245ps engine
but i cant remember VW singing their MPG praises like Porsche do .
Having spent a small fortune on the 4,5 Kn I am wondering
if i should have gone for the Diesel Kn rather than the Evoque
as i am getting under 30 mpg on only a 2.2 diesel ?
and I cant blame it on weight as it is half a ton lighter the the Kn
Be interesting to see what LWA says although i think he must have
the earlier model ?

Autocar tested Evoque and got 30.2mpg overall best 35.8mpg worst 15.7mpg slightly less than they got from Touarag 31.8/37.1/15.6!

Check with Jane as they have Touarag

I think they had it for some time Dougie so it wont be the new one ?
I want to compare the latest shape toerag to the latest diesel KN
as it looks like i could do a swop on the Evoque for level money.
After my experiences with the 4.5 i will not pay a premium for
the badge again .

If it is an 09 I think it is the old diesel
We will find out when he gets back from Barbados

Perhaps Spook will be along, he's been running a new shape diesel for the last year and is very happy with the economy, I believe.

We've just ordered a diesel replacement for the S, so will find out for ourselves in a couple of months.

just for info the Evoque2.2 diesel engine is a ford mondeo engine (a friend of mine has a 2.0l kuga diesel and only gets 30mpg from that he said it is not as good as a focus 2.0 l diesel because it is heavier, taller and has wider tyres so the rolling road resistance is going to be more ) also with my diesel 1.6 focus was worse on fuel when new it got better after about 4k

With brisk, smooth driving, the new Cayenne Diesel does a genuine 35mpg, without much difficulty - and even better with a little effort. Mine's averaged 34.7 mpg since new, over 20k mls.

Ok Lads the Million Dollar question..........
What will be worth more in 5 years the Evoque or
the Kn ? I could probably do the swop at about level money at the moment

Of course he did and I now have 2 cars running around with that plate on
If he is that good and worth his keep he will get away with all the parking
and speeding tickets that come along
But the BIG PLUS will be having something interesting to talk about on SKY
not to mention the Beeb !

Ah

Of course he posted the plate didn't he[:D]

I'm on my second Cayenne diesel gen 2 in the last 18 months-27k on the first and 7k on the current one. I don't take notice of the computer which I find is rather optimistic, but brim it every time and with regular porsche type daily mixed driving mostly non motorway I get a typical real world mpg of 31.3 which is about 1mpg more than the previous 240 bhp model. Both vehicles have had steel suspension with PASM (generally left in sport mode)and all season tyres on 20 inch sport design II wheels and I recon its the best 4x4 vehicle I've owned. True consumtion drops a bit when we go to mid Wales mountain biking, that's four up, with four bikes on the roof and all the clobber for a weekend for four in the back and of course some brilliant clear roads to drive. Soon have to think about ordering the next one!!

2011 Cayenne Diesel gen 2- Umber
2011 997 GT3 gen 2- Carrara White

Thanks spook good reply .
With the discounts being offered on the Toerag i think i would
be mad not to switch.
Don't get me wrong the Evoque is a fine car but I /it has visibility probs .
Make your mind up time and ithink it might be a Freelander HSE ? as the normal RR sport it a bit long for purpose
