Anyone here had one repaired, exchanged.... if so cost....and if I have to replace with new although a N-GT.... is there another Motorsport Diff variant?

GT1 have suggested a diff rebuild although they have not driven the car yet has anyone had this done?

Noise alleviates on left lock.

You don't describe what the noise is? Difficult to speculate what your problem is from the comfort of an armchair ! However if the noise is a "mettallic click" on one side or turning direction it could be more likely to be CV joint. But of course I'm just guessing from here.
As I understand it, if it is the diff then the major wear item is the clutch pack not the diff itself. Have not heard contrary to this. These can be rebuilt, no idea of cost though. Given that a new diff from quaife(not oem) is about £600 ish would guess the clutch disks to be a tad cheaper. Then of course you have the labour on top.

LSD Seems to be working OK just jacked it up and tested (Thanks Paul) LSD plates seem OK....

What is the procedure to test the condition of the LSD?

My car is on stands at the moment and I fancy getting my hands even dirtier

Laurence, it is hard to hear too much noise ...as you recall the exhaust is 115db...

The car almost sounds like it has a warped disc..that is sounds...no brake symptoms or wobble etc....I jacked the car up, rear off the ground and there is no undue clonking or roughness in the drive train as you turn,,,,turning one wheel, the other follows suit and when you hold one side ...reasonable resistance there....so doubt it is just clutch plates....they work better than mine (my new ones arrived fitted next week [:D] )

It could well be a diff bearing, no real play in the wheel...and doesn't make the helicopter noise of tired wheel bearing.
Really needs someone with expertise tocheck it out....with the exhaust making all that noise it is understandable how Des may have driven the car with a problem at Spa and all the way home...apart from the noise the car drives fine....I tried some power on tight lock...noise certainly wasn't any worse?
Des get the experts in......impossible to guess on a forum...

Des

I can recommend Hardy Engineering, they recently did my crown wheel and pinion. A really good job and at the right price. If you can get the box in and out yourself, the rest should only take a day or so.

Let me know if you need more details/contact numbers.
