digital dash problems

Big Load

hi
I have sent my car to parr porsche in crawley. they seem to be experienced and have fixed a few small problems for me. however they have now rung me up and told me that they are having issues with the digital dash where the accelerator needle does not work the other needs are erratic (up and down). plus the fuel even though full with £120 fuel is showing as empty one minute then full/half another.

does anyone have a clue as to what this problem could be??? Parr would obviously want to charge me £90/hr to check this but i get the feeling they don't want to touch it as it could be a costly diagnostic charge.

battery????
earthing??? maybe from the fuse board??
if a diagnostic machine was plugged in would it show the fault if electrical??

need these answered before monday when they re open

many thanks for any advise

ps. does anyone live near coulsdon or know of any electricians who know these cars and are competent in looking at it and fixing it if i take it away form Parr?

Hi Adnan,

It might be worth calling David Hemmings or Adrian Clark. David isn't registered on the forum, and Adrian last logged in four years ago! [&o]

hi Pauljmcnulty

thanks for the reply. who are thee two ppl??? Porsche owners or mechanics???
Also is anyone near coulsdon, CR5 2JB??? i wanted to check/compare with them what the engine should sound like if all in working order. After all the work i've done to her you get to a point where i think she sounds sweet but have a niggling feeling maybe she is not.

Hi Adnan,

They're the 928 Register Secretary and the 928 Technical Advisor! [&:]

Details are all in Porschefile or Porsche Post.

Probably sorted by now, but I had similar problem, only top half of dash worked and digital dash had gone awol.
It turned out to be fuse 25 on my 93 gts, dont just check, replace it as mine looked fine but was not. It all seemed to be related to the interior light which when I opened the door made the dash flicker, but all came back on when I replaced 25.

I would be interested to know if the problem was sorted,
