Dilemma, changing the co!our of my roof ( 944 cab )

Took a visit to the trimmers yesterday to enquire about a new rear screen for the cab. Got talking to the guy about the car, and complimented its condition etc.... Any how's, it got to the subject of replacing the whole roof and he suggested that Maroon mohair would look great on the car instead of the factory black.
These guys know about hoods, trims, complimentary colours etc......and they have sown a seed in my head. The car is black with linen leather, so I can't imagine the roof other than standard black.
So, what do you guys reckon, keep the standard black or change? I've seen a few images of the black body with maroon roof, ( albeit not on a Porsche ) and it does look nice, but would it suit the 944 cab???

Thoughts and suggestions if you would be so kind.
Regards,
Al.

IMHO the maroon with black is a sort of classic combination - one you might expect to see on high end cars from virtually any decade up to the 2000's when it seems some variation of silver dominated. If you are not bound to your COA then I think going maroon would add some distinction and probably look pretty good. Wouldn't clash with your linen interior either. In any case - once this one wears out its easy to go back to black if you wish - its not like a paint job...

Stick with black.

Maroon may be interesting/different in the sort term, but the initial novelty will wear off.

Either way, as you'll always be driving with the hood down (won't you!) the colour doesn't really matter.

Who makes a maroon top for our cars ?
is it a good quality ?
i guess its not gonna be easy to replace

There's a trimmers on the Wirral called car and marine connection. Brilliant craftsmanship but not cheap. They do everything from motorcycle seats through to yacht interiors. I got quoted ÂŁ1200 for a complete new hood not including headlining but inc of fitting.

Personally, unless a maroon mohair roof was an option when new I'd stick with black or you may find it more difficult to sell if that time ever comes...

What Peter said.

It is also one of those things which, while it might look good, it could equally stand out too much and shoot "LOOK AT MY NEW ROOF!"

I think it's a nice colour for the roof: I've seen a few Boxsters with maroon on different colour cars.

If it's a keeper why not? I agree resale is maybe an issue but then that would possibly be outweighed by the value of a new roof anyway.

Someone who is good with photoshop will be able to mock up some pictures for you.

I happen to very much like the idea of a maroon roof on a black 944 cab but it really is nothing more than a matter of taste.

The website linked to above is worth a visit, as they offer hood cleaning, colouring and proofing stuff, and loads of other bits. Funnily enough I came across this outfit many years ago, they're actually called BAS - which at the time was the initials of my daughter's school (Battle Abbey School) so I just had to buy the cooks apron with "BAS, Soft Tops For Dropheads" on it!

Well....

here's a 968 that passed through my hands a few years ago

its not a 944 but its as close as it gets
