Dim lights

I'd like to improve the lights on my S2 as they're not too great unless on full beam, has anyone managed to improve on them significantly?

In my experience the lights aren't usually bad at all on 944's its just the wiring that gets old. You can make a huge improvement on most cars by cleaning up the earth with some acid or a wire brush. The earth is attached to the bodywork just behind the light units but lower down (its the only one there) I would be suprised if the lights were not adequately bright once this is done. Obviously modern xenon lights are a massive improvement but I doubt if you'll think its worth doing ocne they are functioning correctly.

.....and also make sure your lights are clean (the popups have a habit of being forgotten during wash day [:D]) and that the reflectors and lens are not shot to pieces after 18 years of hard use. No point upgrading bulbs and wiring if the light itself is cruddy [8|]

I went down the route of getting new bulbs - weren't Phillips but rather an equivalent and must say they made a huge difference and well worth the money imho.

I've checked them over and they're clean and the insides look tidy, I think it's just transfering between old and new cars, I've ordered some new bulbs (phillips) so will fit them during the week,

I'm hoping to pick up my "new" S2 on thursday and one of my first jobs is going to be to fit a proper HID bi-xenon upgrade. I'll post some photos and before / after results. I can't go back to halogen candles again... [&:]

These are from a Golf MK2, not sure what type of bulb they use.
