dipped beam playing up

Hi folks

i wonder if you can advise.

Last week my dipped bean started flickering on startup and would then go out and I get the dashboard message to check my dipped beam. Every time I turned off the engine and started her up again, the same thing would happen. I have replaced the bulb and the little square metal box that the bulbs sits in (sorry I've forgotten what that is called) but now the light does not come on at all. Any ideas before I resort to a garage. It's the driver side dipped beam and I have a 2003 Cayenne S.

If it's of any use, that beam had always been a little pink in colour since I bought it and not the bright white of the other side which may suggest that there has been aproblem there all along.

Many Thanks in advance.
