Dipsticks

Not a go at anyone, just a question about dipsticks! So I'm having bother getting a good seal on my dipstick and keep having a minor spillage every once in a while... I've got a modified 3" downpipe which needed the dipstick tube to be bent a little more than it is as standard and a new mounting bracket was fitted. Anyone else experienced this or have any good tips for getting a good seal?
If anyone has a 3" downpipe fitted, did you need to modify your dipstick tube? If not perhaps I'll look at getting a different downpipe...
I'd happily remove it entirely if there was a plug I could use and just check the oil once in a while via trolley jack tbh...

I have a 3" downpipe but I don't recall having to modify the dip stick tube? I guess it's possible that I pushed it over a little but if so it would have been very slight, alas I just can't remember, it certainly doesn't look like its changed. As for sealing, have you tried a new O ring, I do recall fitting a slightly thicker section O ring at some point in the past. I think that was more to secure the dipstick better than sealing a leak?

Hi Phil - mine was completely loose and when I had the intake removed I fitted the tube back properly, I got the o-ring and plastic guide from Porsche and then sealed it using some Loctite 574 - pretty sure this is mentioned in the workshop manual. You have to be extremely careful not to push the o-ring inside of the sump...

Helpful that, thanks. I've replaced the o-ring a few times but not considered using loctite. I'll give that a go before I try anything more drastic.
