Disappointed (slightly)

After 8 happy years, I decided to try and sell my beloved 944S through Porsche Post this June.... I didn't get one offer [:(][:(]

On the bridght side, it means I can continue to drive my pride and joy [:)][:)]

Does anybody else think £3750 is too much for a 1987 944S (131,000 miles).

Here's to another 8 years fun motoring.

I like mine as well. I think potential buyers are put off (wrongly) by rumours of high cost of maintenance and unreliability of the chain drive for the inlet cam.

I've not experienced any problems with mine, except a worn out gearbox. Currently I'm having a lot of work carried out on it (gearbox/quickshift/water pump/chain/belts) etc. All just precautionary, as even the old gearbox was just 'noisy'.

I might do some development work on it and use it as a track car as well ! It might get the original T250 front brakes etc from Turbot [:D][:D]

My advice - if it's a good 'un, keep it and enjoy it [:D][:D]

When i traded my 1987 944s (100,000 miles) in January i was only offered £1750 but managed to get it up to £2750.

The good side it was for 911 turbo [:)]

Excellent cars keep it if you can

Keep it [:D]

I wouldn't have thought 3750 is too much for a car in good condition, but then I haven't ever tried to sell mine. PP may not be the best place for our 'cheaper' end of the Porsche range as most readers are possibly already driving around in cars of a much higher value.

I have had good success with a classified ad on www.pistonheads.com (free) you may also want to stick a post on the Titanic email list and try to snare a Lux driver hoping to upgrade or try the Tipec Yahoo group where a lot of posters are in 924s

Finally you'll just have to fork out for an autotrader ad

Don't forget 911 & Porsche World, they have a lot of cars for sale in there. I'd have said you were priced about right to sell. IIRC I got a bit more for my '88 Lux.

Thanks for all the responses. Now that the English summer is over (we hava had *two* consecutive hot days), I'm going to remain true to the the faith and keep the car. .... well, at least until I can double up and buy a 968/993 or (forgive me) Cayenne

Thanks to all.

hi

i hate to say it but your price is far to high i payed just £2000 for my 1986 944s with 104689 miles just 3 months ago

it has full history and includes a full top end engine rebuild after the chain that drives the cam shafts broke which cost the previous owner more than i paid for it

OOh I missed this first time round Rick.

Will you be ready for our 944/968 trackday at Snetterton on 20th August?
