apart from an OPC (1hrs labour....£150) can anyone recommend somewhere close to Preston where i can get my discs skimmed ?

Obviously looking for a quality place with good rates.....

Thanks in advance

Rick

Hi,
You don't say why you want your rotors skimmed but this is really not to be recommended on a Porsche. []
If your current rotors are worn or scored then you should replace them - they're not as expensive as you may think!

I guess it was the old ploy ..rust on the rear face off the discs sir .it is common practice for then to me skimmed i had a 993 done after a dispute about this after only 10 months said my discs where worn till i pointed out you fitted this set 10 months ago ..you must brake dry your discs after washing if you then put it away ,look at any porsche that has beeen standing overnight outside and you will see a film of rust on then esp on a damp night .

hi guys thanks for responding, i bought the car from OPC reading mid august and now the steering wheel wobbles when braking heavily. This was identified by OPC Chester as brake discs needing skimming, they charge £150 for it.

Am currently taking it up with customer care but not got much optimism on that front......

IMO skimming is pointless. You are paying £150 to have old disc's lives significantly reduced for a short term fix.
Sebro disks from Eurocarparts are around £40 each, and the ones with Porsche packaging are around £90 each.
They take no more than 30mins per side to replace (very easy DIY, check the 996 teq/FAQ pages for how to), or get an andi to do the work.
