Disconecting the battery

Is there anything special i have to do before removing the battery i.e. key in ignition or whatnot to stop the alarm from going off?

I was wondering if this procedure is followed if you were taking the battery off completly for re-charging? Would you simply follow these instructions and once disconnected turn the ignition off, then before you put the battery back on ensure the ignition was on?

I was told by a chap at my local OPC to put key in position one, so the ignition isn't fully on but enough to register the transponder, then you can remove the battery and replace without the alarm going off.

I've done this a few times and haven't had a problem yet.

Cheers,

I was thinking if you need to take the battery completly off to charge, I have no power in the garage.

Should be fine, I removed my old battery and left the car as it was for a few days before getting the other one through.

All depends if you want to leave the key in, no one was stealing my car from the garage without a battery :) (well unless the tow it I suppose.....)

I can thoroughly recommend one of these though:

Has a large permanent tamiya connector - a doddle to charge and maintain the battery, really good bit of kit that you can use on all other vehicles too, bit difficult if you don't have power though in the garage.

a good idea to open the drivers window as well, just in case i was told ! also if your battery is dying i would get a new one, i went through the recharge and good ride about and then you get stuck with a flat battery anyway, luckly mine was at home.
