Disk Brake Skimming

I saw an ad on the net recently for this service specifically for porsches. Not sure how the prices stack up against new disks or whether you need to replace the pads after the skimming is done. Anyone got any experience of this, as my rear disks look as if they might benefit from it?

Thanks in anticipation...
Russ

You do need to replace the pads at the same time, but this will extend the life of your discs, as long as they are not too cracked!!

You can probably only skim once, but budget on IRO 150 +VAT for all four.

GT1 at Chertsey offer this service. 01932 569911 / 944.

Not sure where you are but Parr have added this to their services recently if you're in Sussex

thanks guys. I am in berkshire so the chertsey option looks promising. The ad I saw was quoting about £80 for one axle so £150 a set looks competitive.
I have a ridge about 1-1.5mm on the disk edges and a nice wavy surface to the disk face but no cracking that I can see (yet!). I'll give it a go before my next service.

Any idea why I am showing as a non-member - anything to do with the fact that when I sent a mail to the club on joining the forum I got a message saying their server was full and could not receive it?![>:]

I'll bet you are worn to limits and will have to replace anyway. Whomever you go to will soon tell you anyway....

I guess I'll find out when I take it in. I'll have to sell a few more bits on e-Bay to raise the funds first!

Thanks Mark for the link - I've sent another mail to the pcgb office.
