Distributor cap

Last time I looked inside a distributor cap was on an Opel Manta GTE. A long time ago. If my memory serves me correctly, it had a "˜node' in the middle. My S2 cap doesn't! Is this normal? See pic...

That looks broken to me, was the car running? Is it possible it fell out as you took the cap off?

Definately broken centre I think it is the same cap as a Volvo..... might save you a couple of quid.

Check out the 'alternative parts' thread in the FAQ section, it lists the Volvo part number for S2 dist caps:

got my new one (turbo) from eurocarparts, VERY reasonably priced, and was oem BERU one anyway. By the looks of that photo, I'm surprised it runs at all ? as I was when I removed mine ! haha

blast just bought a new dizzy cap which cost £40, yours certainly looks bust though as I have just checked the one I have scrapped which still has the central node in.

I'm after a new dizzy for my 2.5 NA - will the Volvo/Beru dizzy be a direct replacement?
Don't think so - it's a different design.

BUT, as I understand it, the one for the 2.5's are the same as on the turbo, and much more reasonably priced. (The reason for looking for an alternative fitment for the S2 caps is that the original ones are so jolly pricey!)
