Diy gasket replacement?

angry

New member
Ive noticed that my nearside lower rocker cover is leaking oil and wondered how easy it would to be to replace myself.I have successfully replaced the oil and filters, spark plus(all12) and pads all round in the past.
It looks as though the exhaust box would have to be removed to gain access,do any of you experienced chaps reckon its do-able,any tips?[:D]
Its a 94m c2.

Well if you have done the spark plugs, replacing the lower cam cover gaskets will be no major task to you. It does make everything much easier with the silencers out of the way. Just be careful with the small allen key headed bolts that hold them on, they can break if seized in the cam carrier. Its a good idea to fit new bolts while you`re changing the gaskets, some of them get quite rusty and it will make it easier next time!

Easy enough job but as has been said above the bolts are a bugger. Just make sure you have the right sized tool.

Double check that it is the cover that is leaking as the oil filter is above it and can leak onto the cam cover.

Thanks Guys,i will probably do it when i get carnewals replacment mufflers, and i will check the oil filter 1st,but i think its been leaking a while.

One small word or warning, it is an easy job untill one of the studs breaks or the allen key hole rounds, the you quickly tighten the rest up and its off to the Porsche specialist and ask for a fixed price rocker cover replacement quote!

Ask me how I know :)

Good luck,
