DIY oil cooler change

Hi John,

I did my Oil Cooler a couple of years ago, nothing too difficult although the fasteners will probably need some persuading. If I remember correctly the headlight needs to come out which is fairly easy from inside the front luggage compartment.

I found that my fan shroud had become distorted over time so I changed this as well, the foam strips around this are also worth doing and also worth changing the Temp Sensor which is mounted on top of the cooler at the same time unless yours has been done. Most important is to ensure you plastic bag the ends of the hoses whilst working on the system to keep any debris from getting into the oil system also ensure you use two spanners on the hose/cooler connections to avoid strain on the welded unions on the cooler.

Might be worth checking PCar. com or one of the other forums on the net as there will probably be some info on there.

Andy.

Hi Andy.

Thanks for the info.
With the headlamp removed the hose connections are visable.
Do you recall if the nose cone come off in one piece?
I understand that the wheel arch liners need to be partially un screwed for the nose cone to be removed?

Regards

John

John,

If by Nose Cone you mean the front nose of the car then you do not need to remove this, just remove the front wheel arch liner and headlamp and you should be able to get to everything you need to.

Hi Andy.

Thanks for the advice. I have changed the cooler successfully, once you know how its done its fairly straight forward.

Cheers
John
