Do 944 S2 have a factory fit alarm / immobiliser?

What is the standard factory fit security on a 1991 944 S2?

Do they have an alarm and / or immobiliser?

If so - are they thatcham certified?

Thanks all.

Ours had the plug-in key type on the RHS of the steering column. This was factory fit but I'm not 100% sure it was standard across all S2's.

Factory system pre-dates Thatcham approvals.

My 1991 S2 does not have the immobiliser on the RHS, but it does have an alarm working off the key locks, and therefore LEDs in the door pins, which I have been told was a Porsche UK thing. There's no reference to it on the sticker in the boot.

Alarm and (seperate) Immobiliser were fitted by Hamilton and Palmer. I think they were part of the "UK Spec", but some cars missed out on them.

The lights on the door pins were (nominally) a cost extra, but I've yet to see one without them. Having said that, the alarm also had an LED which was fitted in the centre console so it would be possible to run one without the illuminated door pins.

Oli.

Hi,

I have an S2 with factory fitted alarm and imobiliser with flashing door pins. I have just notices that you can always hear a relay clicking when any thing gets in the way of the sensors. This doesn;t set off the alarm and isn't that annoying but is it normal?

Does anyone else alarm relay click? it does it even when the engine is running...

Any thoughts?

Yeah mine clicks occasionally, I'm glad you said that as I've wondered for a while what it was.....
