Do 996 cab roofs do the job?

patch

Dear All

I am thinking of moving along to a 996 cab (returning to the 996 fold!!). I would appreciate your views on how solid they are and niggle free e.g. leak proof and mechanically sound would be my main worries.

All the best
Des

Hi Des,

I have a 2004 996 Turbo cab, so quite a lot of power going through the chassis. I've had no problems.

I've previously had Boxsters and 944 cabs and I have found the 996 cab roof to be quieter - quiet enough for handsfree phone calls to be painless.

The 2004 model (and I believe from 2002 onwards) has the glass rear screen with heating elements, which works a treat!

Cheers,

Neil.

Had mine for 6 years. Solid as a rock. Best car I've ever owned. Manages to be a hairdresser poser mobile, lunatic circuit basher and intercontinental cruise missile all in one. Awesome and unbelievably cheap right now. TBH with roof up it feels just like a tin top to me.

Had mine for 4 weeks - today with the blue sky and fantastic autumn weather it was the best car in the world. Try it!http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/micons/m9.gif

Hi, my first post on here, my first question has been asked and answered it would appear. Why are cabriolets so cheap? I've noticed on PH that they are cheaper than I'd imagined. I also see the 996 appears to be cheaper than later 993s which comes as some surprise. Is there any reason other than the trad "air cooled" cachet for this?

What would be a sensible amount to budget for annual running costs, providing I don't buy a dog?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
