Having read many a thread on this subject I thought I knew what to look for regarding the dreaded "RMS", and was therefore somewhat shocked when collecting my 18month old car from the OPC after its 24k service to be told that they would like to replace mine [
] (under warranty comfortingly......)
My car is garaged every night, and I have never seen even the slightest hint of oil on the floor, nor on inspection can I see any indication a drip forming on the underside of the car. The car has just stood for two weeks whilst I was on holiday and still no sign of oil, which serves to only add to my caution [&:].
I am concerned that my car's resale value will take a hit by an RMS replacement, particulary seeing as I can see no apparent need to complete it now. Is it now policy to replace all RMS's on cars nearing the end of their warranty "just in case", or should I challenge the OPC's replacement eagerness (presumably Porsche GB simply put a cheque in the post, or is that being too suspicious [
] - is there any quick check I can carry out myself ?).
