Do PTV (Plus), Sport Chrono and PDCC make any difference?

A Porsche promo video for their chassis options - interesting demonstration of their effect on track but are they of any real benefit on the road and are they worth the extra cost?

Ralph, I've got all of those options as standard on my 991 GTS and all I can say is having driven two cars back to back one with and the other without the car with PDCC felt even more planted on the road. I'm currently in Switzerland and a brisk drive over 3 passes proved, in my opinion, that its well worth it and the GTS was the right choice.

Thinking of getting back into a 911, then Ralph? [:D] Finding the bigger engine in the Cayman S a bit of a handful? [8|] Regards, Clive.

Ralph Have got all that on the current car as it comes as standard. The PTV and PDCC are not switchable so back to back comparison is very difficult. The one I would pay money to have removed is PTV which serves mainly to increase brake wear but doesn’t even have the decency to let you know when it’s interfering. I never notice PDCC in action but then I never noticed its absence on the 997TS. The only ride/handling systems I think you notice are when you put PASM into sport mode it becomes too stiff for the UK roads and RWS which definitely sharpens turn in at low speed. But then the nicest handling/ride combination we have is the 981 Boxster S which we specced as a passive suspension with 18” wheels. All comments relate to road use only; track day experts may take a different view.

2 different questions

If you have the gismos then pressing sport mode (sport chrono) fundamentally changes the character of the car. In the case of a Turbo S from GT to beast. it effectively becomes a completely different car.

With les bits I am sure the difference is less and given previous criticism's I am sure for the Turbo S they have turned the wick up on the associated changes for Sports Mode button.

PDCC is one of those components. If Porsche say it makes a difference I am prepared to give benefit of the doubt having seen the transformation in nature with sports mode (icl PDCC) on.
