Do they all squeak?

Am I being too fussy in hoping to totally rid my car of annoying squeaks and rattles from various bits of trim?
I spend ages fixing one noise, only to find a new one appearing a few days later. Unfortunately my route to work takes me over very poorly-surfaced roads, which combined with the firm MO30 suspension, gives everything a thorough shake up. I am contemplating gradually removing and refitting the entire dash, doorcards, etc, and using some thin neoprene (which I can conveniently acquire from work!) in suspect areas. Would I be wasting my time?

I can't say if they all do, but mine does!!
Normally from the boot area (could be the roller blind) but strangely enough, got a new one today coming from the passenger door. Weird. Maybe it's protesting about being left outside in the rain whilst the garage is being used for house junk []
Still, at least it's not leaking. (kiss of death or what[8|])

My M030 Turbo certainly develops few more squeaks than my wifes S2 (which is whisper quiet) but generally they should be rattle and squeak free. Whenever I find one I take the trim off, give it a clean and then wipe the contact edge with some 'Silicon and rubber lubricant' aerosol that you can get from Halfords. I think a lot of it is caused by build up of dust, dirt or muck over the years or it could be when bits get disturbed after a stereo install or similar.

The hatch does seem to be the culprit for most internal noise that you can't pin down and a new seal or wipe down with lubricant really does help. In general these cars are fairly quiet so if a rattle does appear then you can hear it very easily [&:]

Thanks. I will continue to search for the annoying noises then! Unfortunately the most annoying one, which is only intermittent, comes from somewhere deep in the bowels of the dash, up behind the heater unit.
I wouldnt normally mind quite so much but have been stereo-less for the last 3 weeks!
