Does anybody know my C4S history?

hi,

I'm a Porsche Club Ireland member. I bought a Seal Grel 996 C4S with the Aerokit in June in the UK and brought it home to Ireland. It had a full engine rebuild in Jan 2015 due to cylinder 3 dropping a valve seal. It has had 8 previous owners, has 125 k miles on it, but it is a great car has been shown lots of love during its life and I love it.

It it has a good history overall, recently it is excellent, but there is a gap from Nov 2007 - Nov 2009. I have all the other owner names, and lots of receipts, but I have northing this for that period. Ironically the car has had a set of Bilstein B6, fabspeed silencers and new rads and condensers (date stickers show 03/09) but none of the other owners did this work, so I have deduced that it was the unknown owne.

does anyone on this forum know the car or a possible previous owner?

The UK REG was RV02UGE. IT WAS CH51SDH during the period for which I am missing the history.

i wrote to the DVLA 3 months ago but no response.

can anyone help or does anyone have any suggestions.

thanks

Padraig

If Andy (our Registry Secretary) has it on record, I am sure he will be along soon.

I am not sure if it would work for RoI residents, but UK residents can fill out a V888 form (downloadable from DVLA) and send it off with £5, and you get a complete history of the car, including copies of all the V5 documents, back to the original owner. I have done it a couple of times, and it is very comprehensive.

Hi Richard,

very many thanks for your reply. I will look into the v888, but it would also be great to know if any previous owner had posted info on here about it. If Andy has info on it, would it be possible to find out the previous owners user name on here and find posts related to it?

thanks again

Hi Richard,

I completed a V888 form & sent off £5 but all I got back was a summary of the previous owners, not copies of the V5's, I must have done something wrong....

Oh no - I sent a v888 but didn’t include £5 as couldnt see a requirememt for payment ....option A on page one doesn’t mention any fee if you are a previous or existing owner. I suppose one of three things will happen
1 - illl be told I have to be a UK citizen as they cant provide data to a foreign citizen
2 - they’ll contact me and tell me I owe them £5
3 - they‘ll Provide free of charge

i am antcipating option 1...

Looks like they have changed the form since I last did it. Under the "what information do you want and why" I put that I wanted to complete a history file for the vehicle, and that it was for my personal use. I got back the owner history (full names, addresses, and dates) plus scans of the V5's and V5C's.

Reckon I got the person who couldn't be bothered actioning my request! ??

Hi

Go to checkmycar.com pay your £9.99 it will give you MOT's All previous registrations, colour changes, finance, writeoff, amount of previous owners.

If you have the service book contact the garages and ask for copies of invoices. I started off with very little now I know virtually everything about my car even previous owners names except 1. Not that I was looking for that.

if its been serviced at Porsche contact each dealer they will give you a copy of service and repair information.

Have fun
