does anyone have a 997 on order

I ordered a 997 last October at AFN and paid 2k. In June I paid another 1k. I am suposed to be quite near the front but will not get full spec brochure until August. AFN hint I will get a car this year but feel I may be getting queue jumped. Has anyone got a date yet?

I think that they are being a bit cagey. I gave my OPC a letter of intent in Feb. Then, when they officialy opened the order book in May and started taking money I gave them £3k. I was told at that time that I was probably looking at 9 months after launch, but it would depend on how many people who had given letters of intent bottled out. With a bit of lobbying I'm now in line for a September build car....

I wrote to Glenvargill Glasgow several weeks ago & expressed interest. Was told an order form would be sent & I haven't received anything yet. Must chase. Must see one.

Letter of intent last July (03) for the Turbo cab and are now asking for 5K deposit. No idea where I am on the list!!

I sent a letter of intent to Lancaster Cambridge in the middle of last year followed by a £3k deposit on 1st April. I recieved a brochure and price list from them last week and gave them my desired specification last Friday. The car is scheduled for November build.
Spec is

Midnight Blue with Grey interior.
Carrera Classic wheels
Sat Nav
CD autochanger
Electic, heated seats
Sunroof
Rear wiper
Auto dim mirrors and rain sensor

Also rquested the sports exhaust if it becomes available by then.

All has gone very smoothly.

I placed order with Porsche Centre Glasgow for a Carrera S a couple of weeks ago. A £3k deposit is apparently mandatory; I think that is justified. Told to expect 12 months - but likely to be shorter.

Called in and put £1k deposit down in January 04 at Porsche Guildford and quoted Spring 05 delivery and got a new BoxsterS off the showroom floor for the interim. Then got a call in May for another £2k deposit. Then specced the car in July (another £4k deposit) with a Nov/Dec delivery. So sold the Boxster to a colleague yesterday, as I don't want to be selling in the winter.

Lots of options not available, much like the early Cayennes.

However, went for:
911S
Old School Guards Red/Black
Sports seats
Satnav/phone
Multi function steering wheel
Sunroof
Design 19" wheels (they've run out of the ones featured in the press)
Bose sound pack
Rear wiper
Park assist

Just over the £70k all in. Blimey!

Saw 7 of them them in the flesh at Classic Le Mans, and they look tough.

I thought it looked like a cheap gizzmo - more 'Mitsubishi' than 'Porsche'. Remember, with the best 911s, less is more.

Am waiting for the Targa, so have just bought a 2 year old 996 Targa to tide me over until it arrives, has anyone gout any news of when the Targa will be available?

Fom what I have gathered the early 997's being sold have plastic door and dashboard and have problems getting some of the more desirable options. I'd personally wait till next spring to order one once the mad rush is over and you'll probably find you can get what you want on the options list and the waiting list shouldn't be much more than 6 months.

I have a cab so all I know is that I have parted with 3K and I am 5th or 6th on the list at Hatfield.
