Some people keep receipts, some people don't.

I'm not suggesting that people do but, when significant store is put on a cars history, I have little doubt that some convenient receipts might be "manufactured" by some people.

I find receipts interesting as they do help to give a picture of a car. A lot of receipts could mean a car has been well cared for or it could mean that it is a bad car that has required a lot of work. Only reading the receipts, in date order, can give you an impression of which of the above applies.

With a choice of two cars identical in every way, except that one has receipts, then I might go for the one with receipts. This is assuming they gave me a good picture. It the receipts indicated multiple efforts to rectify a recuring problem, late service intervals, use of cheap non OEM components, servicing by non Porsche specialists etc. I might then go with the car without receipts as ignorance is bliss. [;)]

Conversely, retention of receipts demonstrates an interest in a vehicle by the owner, which can only be a good thing.

At the end of the day, receipts are usefull but, I wouldn't walk away from what seems like a good car just because it doesn't have a stack of bills with it.

I was at Autobahn this Saturday morning just gone when it was dropped off by the seller. Unfortunately I didn't get his name just talked to him briefly about the rowing which had just been on.

I drove the car on Saturday afternoon... I was shocked that they hadnt at least valeted the car before marketing it...

i was also shocked that they had not cleaned the car. they will only come down to 7250 (the car is up at 7495) i personally think this is a bit steep let me know what you think. what did you all think of it? is it a good one or just an ok one. are there ones out there for less money that are better??? let me know thanks

I think it is better to see a car in its raw state so you don't get swayed by the shine and so you can see any potential faults before they get hidden.

If you are interested in a car when it looks a bit grotty, how much nicer will it be when you give it some TLC?

Personally I think the price is about right - mileage, history etc, I bought mine 10 months ago from Hartech for quite a bit more than that so it seems reasonable .

A few things, firstly if it is a "J" registration then it most definitely cannot be a 1990. "G" or"H" applied to 1990 registration year.

If it is a 1990 or 1991 Bridge Spoiler car with leather under 100,000 miles at £7,250-00 then I should be sorely tempted to get it bought. I buy & sell a lot of 944's and you would'nt get one like that from me at that price.

The only downside for me would be Guards Red.

I would tend to agree on price - if it's a J-reg then it's a '91or '92 and the price is good (for a dealer car). If it's a '90 and should have been described as a G-reg then it's possbily slightly high, butonly because for an S2 that's the break point between rubber spoiler and bridge spoiler.

In my experience it's usually the late S2's that have leather, so maybe it should be described as a '91 J.

I agree with John, I'd much rather see a car 'au naturel' than valeted to death - blacked tyres and a recent attack with some Autglym crap are a bad thing in my eyes. Again in my experience most dealers leave their 944's pretty much alone (don't know about Allan though) - obviously a wash and a Hoover out, but that's it.
