Does anyone remember the North East Porsche Drives Club ?
Used to meet monthly east of Durham - might have been at Thornley ?

Is it still running ?

I used to drive up from West Yorkshire in a Golf GTI 16V Mk2 - was broken into on one occasion.
I also wrote articles for the Club magazine.

Is the Club still running ?
Does anyone have the old Club magazines - I have lost mine in house moves - would love to show people the articles

Hi Chris, how long ago are you going back? We have some long time members in our region who are still active within the club, they may be able to shed some light on this.
Unfortunately it's before my time so I can't help. I am only aware of the PCGB & TIPEC. I'm sure the club used to meet at Ramside Hall before we changed to the Dun Cow. Here at R3 we always welcome anyone who is enthusiastic about the marque and if you're just looking for a drive, meet or would like to attend one of our club nights you're more than welcome to come along to see what we're all about before committing to membership. You may wish to also contact Mark Jessop who is the organiser for R18 Yorkshire region who I am sure would also welcome you to the club.
Be interesting to get any feedback on this from our members if possible.

The North East Porsche Drivers Club was run by a Steve Taylor with a guy called Alan and others. Steve and Alan ended up as Chairman and Secretary, respectively, of the Porsche Enthusiast Club in the late(ish) 90s so the NEPDC was amalgamated with the NE region of national club. Not sure what happened to Steve or Alan - although did bump in to Steve at Silverstone Classic (I think it was) a couple of years back....

Steve Taylor along with me and three or four others set up the 924-968 Club in about 1994. It was a club just for front engined cars. We later merged with the North-east Porsche Drivers Club and as there were now all models the name was changed to the Porsche Enthusiasts Club and it started to spread across the country taking in other groups with Steve as the driving force.
Later Porsche threatened legal action against any club worldwide that wasn't officially recognised and the name was changed to The Independent Porsche Enthusiasts Club (TIPEC) to show that it was not official and to get Porsche off our backs.
I'm not sure how active the club is in the North-east these days as I am no longer a member but I am sure it would be easy to find out.
I bump into Steve occasionally at events even though he now lives abroad but his family still live in Hartlepool.
I also see Alan Wells sometimes as he still lives in Hartlepool.

I remember a good friend of mine winning this way back in the late 90's
Adrian (Jimmy Targa) Grieves seeing this on Libyan TV. Sadly working overseas for many years I have lost touch with Jimmy :(
