Does the 996 have a "snorkel"

On the Boxsters you can remove the snorkel just behind the side vent to make the car sound better.
Just wondered if the 996 has a similar thing that can be removed ?

I was also chatting to someone at Eynsham Hall who said that changing the rear boxes (on pre 01 cars) for the GT3 rear boxes makes the car sound a lot better.

Anyone have any comments on this ?
