Dog-proofing a Cayenne......

Do any owners here of 2010-onward Cayennes have advice on what makes of dog-guards, floor mats or cages I should be considering for carrying a spaniel or similar sized dog in the back? Looking on web sites I've seen several guards that use the floor loops to secure the frame, but that isn't obviously compatible with floormats that cover those over: if I cut a hole in the mat it will defeat the anti-spill benefits of the mats; if I go for a frame that just rests on the floor instead it typically presses on the ceiling too to secure it, so may damage the roof liner permanently. Not ideal. Do I just cage the dog (in a suitable cage) and not have a floor mat?

Any advice on what makes / types / retailers to avoid too?

Cheers

I used Lintran and recommend them (www.lintran.co.uk) They are experienced and had supplied for other Cayennes when I contacted to them. I have a custom size (2/3rds width) for a lab and am pleased with it. Keeps dog secure, keeps car clean and intact and is easy to take in and out and clean. I recommend a bumper flap as well to protect from paws and claws. Not the cheapest solution but it does the job for me particularly by keeping the interior doggie free. K

I would second that. I have a Lintran ( in a Range Rover) and it it very good at keeping the dogs in their place and the car clean. I tried cheap cages before going to Lintran and regretted not going to Lintran at the outset.

We use a standard cage from the local pet shop. Full size side door and lifting handles with,a slide out tray. It sits on an old rubber backed rug placed on the Porsche liner to keep the whole thing steady. I usually gaffer tape the c pillar near the roof so that if the cage were to rub against it, there would be no damage. I bought the cage a few years ago and seem to remember it was about £30 and houses our Welsh Terrier comfortably. We pack around it for long trips and have had no problems at all.
