Anyone on here thinking of coming to this track day, some of the 968 owners are going (and my son is having a run out in his hot Clio plus mate -- no worries they know how to drive on a track! just don't overtake them too quickly it is bad for their egos!![:D]).

It is a Goldtrack day (www.goldtrack.co.uk) and Andrew at Promax is co-promoting the event with them -- a discount is available if Promax is mentioned.

As usual passenger rides are freely offered if you just want to come and soak up the atmosphere, remember to bring a lid if you have one.

The new pit garages are apparently finished so it will be interesting to see/use them.

I'll be there in my red 250 turbo - looking forward to seeing a load of Porsches out there :)

Its still "work in progress",, But its getting closer to the finished item....
Just a bit of fine tunning....[;)][:D][;)][:D]

It doesnt beat the Turbos,,on the straights,, But itl still give you a run for your money in the corners + braking...[;)][:D][;)][:D]

I'm at work on Monday but I might take an extended lunch break and pop down for a butchers as it's only 10 mins down the road. Will I be able to get access if I pop along to spectate for an hour or so, maybe get access to the pit area to have a closer look at the cars??

Yes.

You'll be able to wander round the whole circuit and pits (not onto the track itself obviously [:D]) and if you sign up and bring/borrow a crash helmet you'll be able to have some passenger rides too.

The circuit will probably close for an hour at lunchtime so I should time your lunch accordingly unless you want to look at an empty track [;)]

sorted! car loaded up, jerry cans fulled to bursting and ready for the off -- hoping for good weather.

Mark Koeberle says he is coming -- hope he does not park next to me his car is immaculate -- only kidding !!

If my sons Clio survives the day it will be a miracle -- the oil pressure when hot at say 4000 rpm drops to around the 2.2 bar mark or 33psi in old money -- does not look good to me. Anyone know any diffrent on Clio's (it does hit double that when starting from cold)

Tony - hi

The Clio (and it's drivers) managed to survive the day. I did a last minute oil change on Sunday to Halfords fully syn 'trackday oil' a 5w-50 (£22-ish for 5 litres) -- it was on some Silkolene Pro S 5w-40 before. The thicker oil made no difference- after some prolonged tracking on Monday the pressure dropped further to just under 2 bar at full tilt and nothing registered at tickover!! uuummmm

We could have a sweepstake about how many more track miles this engine will last! In any case they are getting cheap track time and that is what counts when you are 20 -- if it lets go, they'll find another engine at a scrapper!

Mark K -- arrived in his GT3RS -- so had a good drool at that, together with the Holden pickup from Promax -- all 600bhp of it! Also liked the race Golf Mk5 with 2 litre diesel power -- strange noise though!

see pics of the day at: http://www.reillystudios.co.uk/performanceart.php

The Diesel Golf didn't half chuck out clouds of black smoke, seemed to motor along alright though.

I managed to escape work for an hour and a half to come along and have a butchers. Went away wishing i'd had the day off and was joining in!! Nice to see so many Porsches of all shapes and sizes and the GT3RS caught my eye but not half as much as the blue GT2 that looked like it had been 'tweaked'.
It was good to see was so many 944's and the white 968 more than holding their own amongst the various versions of the 911's and many other makes. However I think i've rumbled Andrew's (of Promax) secret to the aparent added perfomance on his std 944 - it was the dirty great afterburner spitting out foot long flames from the exhaust. Looked the business, I would like one fitted to mine, it would certainly keep the local chav's off my rear end trying to lure me into a race on totally inappropriate roads through the village, funny, you never see much of them on the nice fast B roads!!

Does anyone want any of the pics? - I thought if I ordered a CD I could stick all the cars on it?

I've just read the small print.....

"[FONT=arial, helvetica, sans-serif"]NOTE. When ordering a compilation CD, there is an extra charge of £10 per extra person, bike or car. i.e. If a CD compilation costs £30 for one persons photographs, a CD for two peoples photographs would be £40, for three people it would be £50 and so on. Unfortunately the website cannot do this automatically. When the order is completed, the order will be assessed as to how many bikes / cars are included on it then the extra charge added. It will therefore not appear on the order form emailed to you, but added later"[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Having done more track days than I care to remember & been offered photo's from most of them I'd say those taken Monday were very poor by comparison.
